£1 A Month Campaign |
| Posted by Pomona - 11-4-08 20:42 - 62 comments |

Could you afford £1 per month to help keep UKP running? With an ever-increasing membership, the costs of running the site increase too, and things like the forthcoming auction help a bit, but what we really, really need, is a steady income to ensure the continued running of the site. We know that times are hard for everyone, and that's why we're not looking for you to donate very much (though obviously if you want to donate more we won't stop you ) but if everyone who posts regularly here set up a standing order, or a regular PayPal payment, to pay just £1 per month, we would have enough to do things like pay for an upgrade of software, pay for the increase in server space and, crucially, continue to pay hosting fees. Please. If you like posting here, and want to continue being able to rely on UKP being able to be your online "home", then please donate £1 per month. Details of how to pay can be found hereJoin the UKP " £1 a Month" campaign and help keep UKP online.

Introducing The Voice Of Mod! |
| Posted by Pomona - 03-24-09 13:09 - 28 comments |
 |
Modding the site is something we continually try and improve upon. One area we are always keen to promote is the view that all Mod actions are joint Mod actions, and not the result of one single person acting alone. So we are going to introduce, for a trial period of 3 months, a Voice of Mod. This means that whenever serious modding is needed on the site the Voice of Mod will be the poster dealing with it. So, for example, when warnings to behave are needed, increasing warning levels of individual members who break site rules, locking topics etc, the Voice of Mod will be used. The minor stuff, like nudges to keep on topic, moving topics to the correct place, applying BlogIt etc, will be done by the Mods using their own memberships. We think it'll be much easier for members and Mods to separate out the Mod from the member when replying in threads. And, as said, we hope it'll cement the idea that Mods act jointly and that no Mod is acting out of any prejudice. We will monitor how this works, and of course if you have any comments, complaints, or even praise then you can let us know and we will review the situation at the end of June 09.

It is with great sadness that I have to let you know that Herneoakshield is stepping down as Moderator of UKP. Thankfully though, he will be remaining on site as a member, so he's not going anywhere! Herne, I am really, really sorry to see you leave the Mods' Cave, and I just want to say, again, thank you for all your hard work and your integrity and your honesty. You were a terrific Mod and you'll continue to be a terrific Valley resident

U.k.p. Auction - Open! |
| Posted by Pomona - 11-23-08 13:01 - 5 comments |

Well folks, it's finally here, the UKP Auction We've been very lucky to have some fantastic items donated by site members, and in some cases created by them, and now it's time for you to dig as deep as you can in your cloak pockets and go shopping There are pics of the items on sale in the GALLERY with a full description of what each item is, starting bid and other relevant information. All items can be paid for using PayPal, bank transfer or cheque. PLACE YOUR BIDS IN THE GALLERY UNDER THE PICTURE OF THE ITEM YOU ARE BIDDING FOR This helps us, and you, keep track of who's bidding for what item and for how much. Postage and packing has been covered, in most cases, by the donor. There is one very special item which will be opened up for bidding on eBay. This is to help ensure that we generate as much funds as possible for UKP. Bidding for the items here on UKP will close at midnight on 1st December/ 2ndDecember So take a look, dig deep, and happy bidding
