Full Version: Invoking Sod's Law?

I suppose this is a follow-on from Celticraven's thread about having a "forked tongue", but does anybody else out there find that invoking Sod's Law actually works better than positive visualisation??

Try as I might, using positive visualisation will not work, and invariably leads to things not happening the way that I want/need/desire/wish them to. At best, I get a neutral nothingness; at worst I get precisely what I *don't* want. blink.gif

However, if I do what I would term "invoke Sod's Law" and think of the worst case scenario, things turn out OK, often with the best case scenario.

Is it just me, or do other people have their brains wired up the wrong way as well?

LOL, yes actually, I do dig ya on that one. I often feel that if you can imagine it, fate will always pick the one you forgot or didn't imagine.

The hard part, after an interview for a job you really want, is not to think at all - just forget about it. When you start thinking you start narrowing the options.

I never heard anyone put that down on paper before. Thanks.

Best wishes,

Marion.

i find that I'm between a devil and a hard place.

If I dont say anything then I'm sure nothing will happen, but if I do it will all go wrong

I've practically lived my life like that actually. Expecting the worst so sod's law will kick in and bring something good. Sadly it's become habit for me now and I've become a very negative glass is half empty sorta person. I'm now trying to force myself out of the habit.

Interesting thought that I've never really thought about before. I guess there is a lot to be said for being prepared for the worst, things can get better from there!

Ha!!!

Maybe I'm not as mad as I thought I was!

Or maybe it's just another example of Sod's Law after all.......
