It's frustrating me to death. I wrote a local history article some years back on the witches of Guilsborough. I'm now trying to turn said article into a booklet to sell in the oh-so-rather-twee-yet-attractive coffee shop they just made out of the surgery
Anyway, in the article I wrote something that, in retrospect, is quite ground breaking. The witches of the original legend and tracts from the day are listed as Agnes Browne, Joan/Ioane Vaughan/Varnham and Katherine Gardner, however I also received another story that it was also listed as Agnes Brown, Alice Harris and Alice Abbot, with an account of one of the Alice’s (Harris?) being dragged to the church to confess.
I believe the guy who gave me this was an academic in the field, second name beginning with O, quite a distinctive name, he's been published...but there were problems in the posting of the tracts and I no longer remember what it was or have his contact details.
I would give my hind teeth to find that source again.
This was a few years back.
Help.
Cheers,
Marion.
