Hi
Read something about these once,I think they are also known as earthquake lights.
Saw what I think might have been one a few years ago.
Thought it was a distant plane shining in the sun until it dropped down in front of some trees and dissappered.Weird.
A friend has said she seen them in wiltshire.
Any-one else? blink.gif

I'm not sure but I think it's the same phenomena as ball lightening.

The theory being that that they are produced as a result of unusually high levels of electro-magnetic energy such as those produced during times of high tectonic activity.

Hence..Earthquake lights.

Apparently that is the same electro-magnetic charge to which animals are receptive leading to the proposition that animals can be used to predict earthquakes.

I'm sure that they know somethings going on but I don't think the horse says to the chicken; 'better take cover mate, there's a four-pointer comming in ten minuites'.

Never seen any.
Sorry.

I do remember reading also that animals sense a meteorite coming before people see it.
I'm talking about ones that hit the ground.
In Barwell in 1969 a meteorite exploded in mid air and showered the village with meteorite fragments.
People reported that before any-one saw the meteorite the horses in a field nearby went crazy.
Same reason perhaps,something electromagnetic.
It's also been suggested that somehow people can interact with earthlights in some way and change there form connsciously or unconsciously,so people might see ghosts, faries or ufos and they could be in fact earthlights.
Hope this makes sense.

Ball lightening is certainly responsible for some so called UFO sightings, as for fearies and ghosts, it's all to easy for the human mind to mis-interpret what our eye's see.

The connection to meteors, I presume so Morrigan.

Where are Stormraven and Oxon ? they seem pretty up on this kind of thing.

From our point of view there is also a strong probability of a connection to Lay Lines.

I've never seen any either, up here you don't get the atomospherics the same. sad.gif
I am facinated by this sort of thing though, there's a street not far from here, (almost all gone due to redevelopment) called the guestrow which it turns out is a corruption of ghost row, it used to overlook the Kirkyard and people could see lights moving around the graves in the dead of night so they put it down to ghosts. It's explained now as probably having been a type of marsh light phenomenon as the bodies won't have been buried very well. There was a similar occurence in Edinburgh before the Nor Loch got drained and turned into Princess Street Gardens.

Ok, so I know that's got nothing to do with anything but hey, it's Saturday. tongue.gif

Or grave robbers perhaps? ohmy.gif

This topic looks set to deviate even further than my last couple of topics.

Good luck Morrigan.....Hope all's well Esk.

I'm off now, catch you all on Monday.

I'm off to Ottakars to invest in a bit of Ronald Hutton.

See ya later.

Yeah, that too, although funnily enough local historians tend to gloss over any possibilities of that in Aberdeen, they leave that to Edin! laugh.gif laugh.gif

Bye Dave, happy shopping
morrigan
Yea happy shopping dave, don't overspend. wink.gif
Back to the lights.
I've heard also that they may-be connected with Ley Lines. Also that prehistoric sites are sometimes placed near fault lines the reason being strange lights were seen.
The only megaliths here in kent are Kits Coty, little Kits Coty, chestnuts, addington and coldrum, and the white horse stone, plus other sarsons scattered around that could be the remains of megaliths.
As far as I know no-ones seen any lights near them although the light I saw was in the bluebell hill area where Kits coty, whitehorse stone and little kits coty are.
UFO's have been reported there rhough.
I think there is a ley line that runs somewhere here.
Does any-one remember the Dragon Project? I think they mentioned unusual lights.
