I'm trawling the brains of our learned members here so sit tight and part your hair...
I'm looking for any info that might be available about a group of witches calling themselves the Silver Circle. Its going back to the 1920/30's and they may have refered to themselves as a sisterhood with the Silver Circle being the line rather than the group name.
I believe there was however at least 1 man involved possibly using the title Major or Magister (the second sounds most likely but the first seems to be more accepted)
Not sure of the location but I'm thinking either home counties or Sussex.
Posts in thread or PMs are acceptable (in thread prefered but I understand if sensitive info involved)
I've tried a google and I can say without doubt its not the Anglo-Dutch group set up in 1979 (unless of course it has a hidden pre-history)
Cheers

Sorry Cos, although I am a Sussex lass born and bred I have no knowledge of these folks. I will keep my eyes and ears peeled for anyone that might.
Its not helpful but apparently Arianrod is Silver Circle in Welsh.
Good luck with your hunt

hi pet
you could try doing a search on (Colonel) Charles Richard Foster Seymour - or the initials he used for his essays (F.D.P) most of which have been printed in a book called The Forgotten Mage and (I think) co-authored by Doloras Ashcroft-Nowicki, although one of them - The Old Religion - A Study in the Symbolism of the Moon Mysteries", was published in The New Dimensions Red Book edited by Basil Wilby in 1968. He was also known to - and I think - worked with Dion Fortune, and his works/essays were also known to Gardner and Doreen Valiente (who also mentioned bout The Key)
Some of his essays (which were written for a private magazine of the Fraternity of the Inner Light in the 1930's) include - Meaning of Initiation; Magic in the Ancient Mystery Religions; the Old Gods; the Ancient Nature Worship and the Children of the Great Mother.
He worked with a small group of women during the late 20's -30's, died in 1943.

Now that is interesting. The rank was a little dodgy and Major seemed more appropriate but Colonel was mentioned so this is a good thing to follow up.
