Full Version: Wedding Gift

A Pagan friend of mine is getting married in a couple of weeks and I've no idea what to get. She's a long established Pagan, her partner is nominally catholic but non-practicing and very open to Pagan ideas. The wedding is going to be a civil one so that everyone can attend and enjoy but they do intend to jump over the broom as well.
They've been together for quite a long time so they don't really need house things. I'd like to get something with a Pagan theme and dedicate it for them but I don't really have any ideas.
Help? What would YOU like for a wedding gift?

Well the things that are ALWAYS needed, even by those who have everything are nice glasses and luxurious towels.

How about a couple of nice glasses that could double as chalices?

Pomona
A really nice plant for the garden smile.gif

Hmmm, both my initial ideas have gone, so how about planting a tree through the woodland trust for them, or something similar.

I once made a traditional Yarrow wreath, bound with red cotton and given good intent/dedication to a couple. They hung it over their bed.
You use dried Yarrow, shaping it around Willow, and tie in place as you set your intent into it.
Unfortunately - you'll need to wait a wee while until it's in bloom! o_rainbow.gif

Oops - reread your post and no time for Yarrow!
How about doing wedding favours with a Pagany theme? Rustic stuff, collected from forests/seashores? Handwoven bags with nuts? Lovely table decs?
Also, I don't know who is doing their handfasting or the Path, but a phallic wand would make a lovely gift - though you could have a job explaining its significance!
Or how about a handloomed strip of cloth for the handfasting?
Herneoakshield
How about a couple of rose quartz crystal pendants, one for each of them.
Epona
candles sorry but thats what i would want or maybe there is something they actual want. why not ask.
I must admit if it were me a crystal (Rose Quarz being the best) or a beautiful crystal figuring would be lovely.

I can only really reiterate what people have already suggested. dry.gif

If in doubt, buy them a waffle-maker *nods wisely*

Just had another idea! o_idea.gif
If you know any good singers or pipers etc, why not get them to play at the handfasting?!
I once did this for two pals and they were over the moon, being piped from church to reception on a gloriously sunny day! o_bounce.gif

I had a pagan/all belief wedding and received in the gifts a set of- well, I'd call them 'drinking glasses' but they were made of silver. Two goblets for us that were meant for enjoying together.

I'd suggest (if both people drink) a really nice bottle of champagne or cava (better Cava, since champage is stupidly expensive for no real reason). If one or both don't drink alcohol, then a set of olive oils infused with chili, thyme or another herb. Perhaps a practical gift like a juicer or something enjoyable like an ice-cream maker.

Look at it this way- you're celebrating the union of two people. Give them a gift that celebrates either their union or their love. wink.gif

Have you got a decent camera?

How about a hand made photo album with a Pagan/handfasting themed cover?
then take some pictures through out the day for them to put in it.

You could include pockets for dried flowers from the day etc ..

There's nothing more special than a hand made gift biggrin.gif
(providing it's not a load of crap thrown together at the last minute of course lol blink.gif )

Just an idea rolleyes.gif

OK biggrin.gif
Well having annoyed BabyBadger by dragging her round the craft centre for 2 hours I have finally settled on a pair of gorgeous blue-glass wine glasses/chalices.
I've also ordered a couple of trees to be planted in the Caledonian Forest with a dedication for the handfasting.
Loads of good ideas from you guys, as expected! Thanks peeps biggrin.gif Not sure I've got enough time to do loads of personalised stuff, but I'll make a bit of an effort with the wrapping and cards etc. In the way of (in season) herbs, colours etc. what's good for weddings? Dried rose petals obviously, is there anything else I could sprinkle in the box?

I dunno about IN the box, but if you've got some how about threading a couple of rose quarts beads on the end of the pink ribbon you tie the gift/s with?

What you've got them sounds lovely badgersmoon, but I definately love TD's idea of rose quarts beads tied to the ends of the ribbon smile.gif

Yes, I like that idea too. I'm going to search the bead shops over the next few days and see what I can come up with.
Mid Cheshire is a bit lacking in esoteric shops in a sensible price range...
