(Scuse the typo - should read: OBEs!)

I am starting this thread as a way of maybe helping any members who are experiencing (to them) strange effects during meditation. I realise not everyone accepts astral projection/OBEs, but that there will be those for whom this is a regular occurrence, whether one deliberately sought, or one attained "accidentally".

The following links are from Wikipedia, and are by way of a preliminary explanation for anyone who doesn't know about these states.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Out-of-body_experience

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astral_projection

So, lets hear your views and experiences, please!
Also, any further links/decent books on the subject would be most welcome.

My my mind, meditation is all about being IN your body, even when you're doing visualization and guided mediations. If you are leaving your body during such, I wouldn't really call it meditation any more tongue.gif
Tas Mania
True as regards meditation - only some can get OBE as a result, and if they don't understand the difference, it can be bizarre and/or scary for them!

Sure they can, amazing what happens when one relaxes smile.gif but it effectually kicks you out of the mediation. That's my point. Its' not a goal of any mediation.

Yup, which makes it all the more important that the distinction between mediation and OBEs are made, lest someone give up on mediation all together.

A book to avoid is a book on Astral Travel by the School of Wicca, I picked this up in Canterbury a while back.. thinking it was a serious book..until i realised it was published by said School of Wicca........

It claimed to have done extensive research with some body in Canterbury and claimed there is no hell, the goal of astral travel is to discover the path of the soul, to astral merge.. apparently the equivilent of earthly sex, oh and in order to do t his one MUST have a guide, impossible otherwise, and have a concotion of iron head, ankle and wrist bands (taken so obviously from what's her name..Dion?)... oh and your bed can't have springs because it will inhibit travel.

Yet it also went on to say we travel without reaslising it a good 5 or so times per night during our sleep... er, can one say contradiction????

Oh and apparently having outstanding sex is a good way to experience astral travel....

mmmm laugh.gif

Has anyone here ever done astral projection? I have to say I remain very sceptical about claims to be able to project oneself in order to gain information about an actual, physical event or place. (If anyone can do it, may I suggest that there are any number of intelligence organisations out there who would be delighted to recruit you... wink.gif )

If that form of astral projection is not achievable, are there other forms that people practice, and why?

Yes, but being one of the rare survivors of MK-Ultra coercion tactics, I'm not telling! laugh.gif

It is possible, it is being used. It is also very much under wraps. A web search for "far seeing" or "far sighting" should get you a host of info.
The military are naturally keen that Joe Public remain sceptical. ph34r.gif

Funny how ideas kinda "click" - this one started with the "Atlantis" thread, got Googled and became the "Bohemian Grove" thread, and has now turned full circle! wink.gif

I did a search for "remote viewing", and came up with the following links, all of which are (I think) rather intriguing.

http://www.militaryremoteviewers.com/cia_r...viewing_sri.htm

and from the Skeptic’s Dictionary,
http://skepdic.com/remotevw.html
which has some interesting links…

Whilst this site even gives instructions – just in case you want to check up on the neighbourhood coven’s midnight shennanigans!

Enjoy folks, but don't get carted away with the Fairies whilst you're at it!

Heh, read the fine print:

QUOTE
Training is conducted in a pleasant classroom setting in the Austin, Texas area by Paul H. Smith, one of the top RV experts in the world. Our focus is on high-quality, in-person instruction. For this reason, class sizes are purposely kept small, and student-teacher ratios kept very close. We strive to maintain approximately a 2-to-1 ratio between students and teachers. As new students are added, we increase the number of instructors to balance.

Yup, figured as much. Another CIA recruitment program! laugh.gif
