Ok, so yes Ed has a new house yada yada yada!
Well yesterday we had a house warming and over abouut 6 hours 30 folk traipsed through my beloved home and today workmen arrived to rip out (allegedly) damp plaster. My beautiful home is now a mess and it feels violated by people (albeit well intentioned and nice people) traipsing through.
What should I do to cleanse the space and help it 'heal'? If that doesn't sound too cooky!

Maybe it goes without saying but I'd wait until the workies have finished replacing the plaster first, otherwise anything you do will just get stirred up again.

After that, it depends on what sort of ambience feels good to you - would you rather have an atmosphere that's based on elements of friendship and the presence of others or on stillness and a space that's exclusive to you?

get a new plant for each room, and visualise it in there and then go round and give each room a plant. The plants should be hardy types that soak up negative vibes, bad odours and builders' dust, so suggest spider plants, cacti, money trees, peace lilies, etc...

Yep, aloe vera. Grows and perpetuates like mad. Handy for treating skin burns and abrasions. wink.gif

Please don't take this the wrong way Eagledance, but ask yourself, is it the house/space that is in need of some healing energies - or is it maybe yourself?

It sounds to me as though everything has kind of temporarily overwhelmed you. Moving home, even when it's what you wanted, is a fraught experience. Your life is turned topsy turvy for a while, and nothing is where you expected it to be. (I an STILL discovering "stuff" in boxes - and that's from over twelve YEARS ago! blink.gif)

You have a housewarming party - and presumably the folks there were all pals and ones who are happy for you? If not, then maybe there is a residual summat that needs to get shifted pronto. But if not, then as I suggested - you feel as if everyone wants some of you/your space, and this is hard to handle. It doesn't necessarily mean your home hads been in any way tainted though. (Sorry - only word I can think of.)

And the workmen? If it's a bought house, then obviously it's in your best interests to have damp dealt with! If it's a rental, then you just have to accept the landlord's decision to want to maintain his investment as he sees fit.

Sooooo......

You still feel somehow not quite settled. I reckon what you need is to dedicate your house protectors (wights/lares or whatever).

Set up a special place with a plant/flowers, candle, water, incense, and anything that speaks to you of your Path and the elements. Tend to it daily. Ask your God/desse/s to assist you in creating a home filled with love and laughter. Fill the space with music of YOUR choice, and fresh air. Take TIME - time to yourself and partner and those whom you worship or believe in.

All will be fine! smile.gif

I have to say Im in agreement with Tas.

I think its one thing to say you feel violated when workmen come in and ( as seems to be the usual unfortunately) pay little heed to the fact that it is your home they are working in. But it does feel a bit... peevish, to complain about people coming to your home with love and good wishes.

It very much sounds like stress.

I also feel, as fred said, that I wouldnt bother my bum doing anything till the work is finished.

What might be an idea to give you a little calm is get one room sorted out. Get it comfortable and feeling nice, even if its just the downstairs toilet! biggrin.gif

Somewhere you can go, close the door and think... "aaahhhh peace"

Worry about all the rest when everything is done.

The best cure for damp is to have a damp test meter (£25 at most) ostentatiously displayed somewhere where the so called dampness surveyor can't fail to miss it when he comes round to rip you off erm sorry inspect your premises.

PMSL!

And ask the slaters if they approve of the current conditions! happy.gif

OK given what every one else says... the whole general upheaval personal stress thing to deal with... and the odd feeling of invasion by what are suposidly folks you invited (house warming) - well beyond that one thought came to mind when you said that you are having to get some plastering done....

See if your workmen would be prepared to plaster something - a charm, talisman, a coin, house warding or whatever into the wall - ie making it part of the fabric of your home.

There is a long tradition of placing coins, shoes, witch bottles (even (dead) animals) in wall spaces, under hearth stones, under window sills etc. to placate the house / land spirits and generally protect the property against fire, flood, famine, vermin, attentions of 'bad' witches / influences etc...

Seems like an ideal opotunity to continue the tradition - just choose your item and intent with care.

Be bright, be bold
