Not been a pagan very long and still finding my way.

Does anybody have any simple chants or phrases or prayers that may help. I need advice and guidance.

Thanks

What kind of thing were you looking for? A specific purpose would be a great help, healing, banishing, self-esteem, etc?

two areas really,

one for calm before meditating and the other to offer thanks to the gods.

Do you have any particular gods that you wish to honour?

Let your inner voice sing. It needs no written words to express what comes from deep within your soul. wink.gif

I agree with Quaz here.

Just feel what you want to express and let it out in tones and sounds. Nothing says that you have to have words in there too.

Through experimentation you'll soon learn that some tones 'work' better than others at different times.

Let it out! Sound is one of the most primal gifts that we were given and sound is more important to creation than any of us could ever really know!

What they say! If you can't sing a note, then humming is very powerful and there's always drumming or even clapping. For meditation just search around for a piece of music that relaxes you - including waves - very restful.

Enjoy!

I agree with the three previous posts on this one. Whatever you chant it must be chanted with all you can muster and charged with the Magick that needs to be done.
This of course could be a whisper as the cunning fire is the important thing that needs to be present , not necessarily volume etc.

Many thanks for your replies. I have found a few things that help.

Mantras are a particularly useful form of chant. I copied this from the Miss You thread, it was regarding a mantra to get someone to contact you but you get the gist:

"[A mantra] Needs to be something that flows well - a combination of his name and what you'd like him to do: i.e. 'John Contact Me' - for reasons of the subconscious it helps to scramble the message a little if it helps it flow - i.e. if it sounds better in a foreign language or shortened: 'Jontac ee' which, fast, might become 'jonteejonteejontee' - J like the French is easier. You see what I'm saying. Like a verbal sigil. Start dead slow 'Jon tac me' and slowly get faster and faster, like a wheel spinning. Keep it up as long as you feel comfortable then come back out, slowing it down to a stop again. Do it before bed each night, when you're bored in the office (doesn't matter how loud you do it - even works in your head). Do it a few times a day. If you have a prayer wheel you can stick a sigil and the mantra in it and swing at the same time."
