Hi all,

I have always been interested in learning more about reiki and crystal healing and this weekend was introduced to a friend of a friend, anyway it transpires that this lady is a reiki master and has offered to 'attune' me.....

Firstly does anyone know what this would involve? or is it different for everyone?

Secondly, the lady told me that in order to have this attunement, I would need to fast for a week beforehand. Is this standard practice? because I can't imagine being safe to drive to her house after not eating for a week......

Any other info/advice welcome!!

Thanks x

First I would suggest you read up on Reiki, lots of available stuff online, and no you don't have to fast for a week, although some teachers advise you cut out things like drink and ciggies between attunements as with some teachers level 1 reiki can be upto to 3 seperate attunements. Again some teachers will attune you in one day, mine though was over 3 weeks, differs from teacher to teacher, And will say Reiki will change your life, it did mine. Also find out how much an attunement with this teacher will cost you, for they can be quite expensive, and gets more expensive with each level. But you will find places that will give free distance attunements, and in my opinion are just as valid as one on one attunements, pm me if you would like a manual on basic Reiki.

I would have to say that it is not standard practise blink.gif would go as far as saying that to ask someone to fast for a week prior is a bit bloody daft rolleyes.gif The most I've ever asked anyone is to try and refrain from alcohol and too much caffein laugh.gif

Im a Reiki Master, but Ive got to be honest, I dont have a very high opinion of Reiki at all!
I would suggest people learn Spirtual Healing instead!
A couple of good reasons for this, firstly Reiki is generally learnt too quickly to be considered a Quality Therapy(eg taking at least 2 years to learn), which means when the Government start regulating all the Complimentary Therapies (which is in the pipeline!), it will mean many Reiki Masters will be considered invalid!
Many Reiki Masters are just making a lot of money at others expense!
Avoid like the Plague anyone who promises '0 - Reiki Master' in one weekend! It cant be done!
Reiki is often used like a Pyramid Selling Scheme! Like Amway!
I would describe Reiki a bit like Judo, its a system that can work on its own, BUT it is always far better to learn Jujitsu , as this is the Complete System!
Study Spiritual Healing, its loads cheaper, literally Hundreds of £ cheaper! It takes 2 years to qualify, with lots of practise! Most Spiritual Healers also know Reiki and will offer it at hugely discounted prices as part of the Spiritual Healing training! You will also be fully Regulated, Insured, etc!
Plus it will allow you to develop further!
The Attunements are different for many people, it is common to pay £100 for level 1, £150 for level 2 and over £500 for level 3!
It cost me £150 total!
If you fast for a week, you are pretty well guarenteed a Spiritual Experience! But for all the wrong reasons! Cut out fags, alchol, drugs and coffee, for a couple of days before and drink lots of water! That is more than enough!
Hope that helps! smile.gif

cool.gif Just read this with interest, as Ive been to a reiki practitioner a few times recently and ive found it a positive experience.

but: they are
a ) a friend, whom i trust,
b ) also qualified in other healing techniques, so it could be that this person i visit works on different levels as well as the reiki.
Just wondering cornish shaman, whether you generally find that you have better results with spiritual healing then? Or do you bring both techniques together when you work for healing? Am interested. smile.gif
Maybe I will ask my friend the same question. smile.gif

Personally I prefer Spiritual Healing as the main method I use, as it allows me to use whatever I feel is needed.
This can and often does include Reiki Energy, but Hot Energy is not always appropriate! Sometimes Cold is needed, or Pressure Point manipulation.
It also allows me to incorporate some of my Shamanic Techniques too. smile.gif
