Full Version: South Welsh Deities

I was in South Wales last week in the areas of Cwmbran, Bridgend, Port Talbot and Swansea.

Now, whenever I go to a new place I get (or try to get) a feeling of the local Deities and present my compliments (for want of a better word).
So far I have always had a feeling (if not a response) but whilst in South Wales there was nothing and I truely mean nothing. sad.gif

Before I crossed the bridge I felt the 'locals' but once across there, there was nothing
I've been to mid and North Wales in the past and have felt them there but here it was just empty.
It was like a void, a black hole, a depressing 'nothingness' that was awful.
It felt like the Wizard of Oz in reverse, all technicolour beforehand and then plunged into black and white or being in a brightly lit room that someone suddenly turned the lights out in.
The complete abscence of something and I was there for days.
As I came back over the bridge I felt the others again and I just don't understand.

Has anyone else ever felt anything like this anywhere else and is there anyone from South Wales on here that has noticed something wrong?

next time you come to wales PM ill meet up with you im from bridgend.

there are lots of vacant places in wales there are also lots of real energised places.
if you head to the coastal areas there are some really wonderful places. they are well kept secrets. the welsh are very hospitable but also very secretive.

i find it a wonderful place to live so does my partner JO

Thanks Opal hun, I will do.

So it wasn't just me then? That's a relief!
My granddad was Welsh and a lot of the family are still there so I do go a few times to do the visity things.
This was the first time I'd felt the complete abscence of something and it was flippin well horrible.
Wonder if it's somethng like that which has been effecting the mindsets of some of the young down there?

its all the hangings. its had a terrible effect on the youngsters sad.gif

I know, it's truely awful that those things happened, o_cry.gif But I actually did mean the mindset of those poor kids who hanged themselves.
Could it be that the void and totally depressing nothingness that I felt whilst there may have had some influence in why they did what they did?
I've just never ever felt that from a place before, it was so intense and quick to descend.

it could be. it could also be the widespread grief. its very sad but im sure it will lift. these things go in cycles.

I lived quite close to cwmbran until a few years ago. The old ones are there, the south wales valleys have a strong witchcraft trad and are rich in faery lore but it can be less than welcoming to those perceived as outsiders. I know several family covens who have had negative experiences with incomers trying to take over - mostly in order to write it all down in books! Which of course is not appreciated... there are some lovely magickal areas there too, lots of standing stones, some nice woods and of course the old druid mountain. Now I live further west on the coast, and the situation is much the same here...

Try having a wonder around North Wales, its the story is a lot different there. It still retains its energy.

Oh, isn't it a truely wonderful place up there? smile.gif
I've been a couple of times and they're always around, it's just so...(how to put it without sounding corny?)...Alive

That's why it was so distressing down south. It's probably as opal has said, the residual grief or suchlike just blanketing what is there.
opalmoon
tangwystl you are right. in the south, things are covered from outsiders. there is plenty of magic to be had around here. its also very easy to find.

the south is also far more hospitable than the north. the north being known to hate the english with a passion.

down here as the song goes 'you'll get a welcome in the hillside you'll get a welcome in the vale'

there is a terrific amount of old welsh lore. some of the most breathtaking views from the sea to the mountains. to find it is to seek it out not to expect it to just come to you.

i go a lot of places on the coast and into the hills and the energy is fantastic.

my partner John Odin moved here from cheshire. he has never felt as much energy in north wales as he does down here. it has made him such a happier person since he moved here as well.

Bracknell in Berkshire is like that.
