Following the Seidr Thread I thought it might be interesting to discuss our different experiences of the Otherworlds!?
What sort of things have happened to you there?
How do you get there?
Do you have tangible results in this world?
etc, etc................

WAY too big a topic to easily, but comprehensively answer.

What happens there depends on the purpose for the journey, but invariably involves meeting allies and other entities and traveling through the landscape. Sometimes there will be some specific activity, sometimes its more a case of gathering information.

How do I get there... enter an altered state of consciousness and travel down the entry point... for me, a hollow space at the base of a tree.

Tangible results.... most definitely, although sometimes they take an unexpected form and sometimes the results aren't immediately apparent.

Very vague responses there I'm afraid.

I get there down a dark tunnel with bands or ribs along it. I imagine it's similar to what a spider experiences if someone is careless with the hoover.
I go there to speak to my buddies and ask advice. Occassionally there have been monsters there, which is...um...yeah.

Spider up the Hoover! Love it! laugh.gif
I know its a HUGE topic Cern, but well, lets give it a go! Youve already started! biggrin.gif
I seem to go there by various routes:
Firstly I always put up a Sphere around myself, my place is pretty well protected anyway, but it helps get me in the right frame of mind! I could be outside too, so need it more then, if only to keep the Mosquitoes away! laugh.gif
Once in a Mediative state, I often, end up flying as a Buzzard, eye to eye link, if that makes sense!
Then land at my destination and change back to me, though thinking about it, I dont know what I look like! I will have to check my reflection some time! What feels like me!
Other times I focus on a Rock I sit on and just appear there! Theres a Lion I talk to there a lot!
Other times its a very dark trip, with circular bands of deep Purple light, a bit like a Wormhole, I guess.
Other times I just seem to shrink, my body just becomes huge and really heavy and I fade into it, Macrocosm to Microcosm?!
Cern you thought your answers were vague?! biggrin.gif
Where do I go? Most often, somewhere that looks like the Rockies in Canada or Norway, probably the easiest way to describe it! Pine trees, mountains with snow, lakes and rocks, definetely Northern Hemisphere stuff!
This is the basic area, but it has smaller areas in it, where diferent beings live, their areas look similar, but feel different, theres a lot of feeling!
Theres a cave in a Mountain with a group of men?, in dark cloaks, all very dark here, often storms about to, tending a Cool Blue Flamed Fire ('She' stuff) which is a portal to another area, which is like a Void, I become all and Nothing?
I tend to go to the same places, usually, but they arent, like looking out of the window and its day, next time it night, same but different, like layers upon layers?!
I sometimes go to places I know, more often nowadays, snatches of vision, things seen and later found here.
Most often I am contacting Beings, talking, watching, learning, etc.
More obscure answers! laugh.gif

Mountains and pine forests all the way! The snow depends on where I go- there's one bit that is a snowy forest and another, sunnier place by a river. Sometimes there's a desert and sometimes there's a tall, bare mountain of brown stone upon whose summit someone sometimes dances and calls down lightning.
And Space. All black and sparkly.
And a Void, that came before space. To pinch one of Mr. Pratchett's images, if the universe is a symphony, this place is the bit
where the conductor taps meaningfully on his lectern and raises his eyebrows.

OMG !! I think that this is the first time I have seen a collection of such clear descriptions of the places people go to in the 'Otherworlds'. And I am gobsmacked.

Because..............I call mine, my Alpine Place!! Seems I am not alone. LOL.

Its very much like a scene from Heidi - if you remember that kids programme from years ago.

Pine forest, short wind swept grass, and the slopes of a valley with much higher snow capped mountains seen beyond. There is also a small lake, and I know there is a cave.

Blimey!!

Another place I often find myself in is a much more British 'wild wood' - with ancient gnarled trees, and deep ground stuff (cant remember the flippin word!! aarrgghh) you know, fallen leaves etc.

How do I get there ? Well, I usually start by preparing for a meditation session, but its hard to describe, or even recall the process. Probably because its one of those second nature things now. Sorry, I was taught how to meditate when I was about 9, and its not often I have to talk about the 'how' of it. I just know that when I am journeying, I set out with a different intention than just meditating. But - if there is something I need to know, I can find myself in journey even if I just wanted to drift in meditation. if that makes sense.

I go somewhere velvety dark, warm and silent. There is no sensation. Once there, I reach out and, hopefully, whatever I am reaching out to communicates back.

This place can be reached from anywhere, whether I'm sitting still in a quiet place or walking in a city centre. The deepest part of it will distance me from what is going on around me, so it's inadvisable to try while doing something else. However, it's possible to be in the 'outer edges' while doing other things.

I go there to communicate with those who live elsewhere than Midearth. That's not where they live, simply a communication medium. I would guess the visualisation of the communication medium depends on how you were taught. I began with Zen Buddhism, so I suppose it's logical mine blanks out other sensations.
Wulfric
One of the places I've been is very mountainous. Sometimes snow-capped, sometimes not. It is, according to the person I've been with, Jotunheim, the land of the giants.

Another place is down in Hel, in the hall of my ancestors. A largish affair, timber built with a large central fire running along the hall with rooms off to the side, although this is on two or three levels. Outside there are stables and other working areas. I've yet to be there in the summer our spring and the last time I was there it was very foggy. A wonderful atmosphere.

The strangest place I've been is outside the nine worlds - looking down upon them. I can't even begin to describe it or even remember a lot of it beyond the colours - that's all I remember is the colours and the sensation, but even the sensation I can't describe - awe and gob-smacked doesn't even begin to describe it.

MoonHunter, Shaman always sit on the fence, between the worlds!
No, Im not big headed enough to call myself a Shaman!
I just try to head in roughly that direction!
Sounds like Bifrost Wulfric! biggrin.gif

I have two specific places.

I always start from a meditative position and with one I travel under, often counting down like hypnotism, and enter my world (if we are going to call it that) through a cave.

The second I travel up, this time often counting upwards and touching things as I go, and I enter a much more relaxing and green land, with all the usual streams and trees. I end up normally by a favourite tree by a river and I wait there to see who will come.

This is the place I will see my brother and mother and others who have passed over. Its a happy place:)

The former is not so happy, thats where I journey into the unknown and where I would go to find answers about self.

Travelling for specific purpose (which I was taught was called remote viewing) I would go outwards, but stay within this "earth plain" (sorry, I know it sounds fluffy but I dont know what else to call it. ) and that would be used to find answers relating to people alive, or places. Or for healing. Or even hexing.

Other than that, I cant, or rather wont (at least on such a large public board) explain further sorry.

Don't often manage this. Mine is always the same place. A shallow river running over large stones with a pebbly "beach" on one side where there is a cave and larger boulders. On the other side is a forest. It never lasts for long. I'm rubbish at that kind of thing. I find I try and try and then when something happens I startle myself out of the necessary state sad.gif

This will sound odd but I think I have more successful visits in dreams. I have a particular kind of dream when I am on an old fashioned kind of bus travelling along at night in heavy rain. There is a feeling of real well being, camaraderie and cosiness on this bus. It reminds me of the long journey home from school when I was a kid. Home and school were both places of real anxiety but the bus ride was always time to myself.

I have the dream every few weeks or so. I've met all sorts of folk travelling on the bus. A spider goddess, my father's mother (now passed) and a friend who took his own life 10 years ago are the most memorable. I've sat and listened to conversations as well as being addressed by people directly. It's always a good and helpful experience, if sometimes a little sorrowful.

I'm not sure if it's an "otherworld", somewhere within me, or somewhere in between but I feel definite outside input from there, if that makes sense. cool.gif

Makes sense to me Snippety!
I have a regular dream where I am in the old family home, except it isnt, just similiar, lots of people I used to know visit there, but they are different to!
I dont know how accurate it is, but it feels nice! smile.gif

What a great thread to come back to after a few days away smile.gif

I usually enter by diving into a small stream and then swimming through a narrow, white-walled tunnel. I end up by a waterfall on the edge of a wood-to the right of me is a river with a rainbow bridge leading to fields.

The landscape is very varied though-regular places I visit include a field of corn/poppies with a circular hut in the middle-this is where I see deceased relatives/ancestors. There is a also a desert environment like the grand canyon and very high mountains. I don't feel I've explored it all by any means.

When I travel up I end up somewhere very white filled with buildings made of marble and people in robes-very much reminds me of ancient Greece or Roman architecture.
