Ok, after spending the last year studying, quibbling, sleeping and generally having a good old thunk about it, i've finally found where my grubby little soul lies...witchcraft.

Trouble is
1) Im an atheist, so i know i'm not a wiccan, but that probably means i'm going to have trouble finding a mentor to show me the ropes as the only local witches i know of belong to the local wiccan coven so i may not fit in there.

2) I lean towards the more solitary/hedgewitch side, so does that mean i'm going to have to try and find my way on my own too?

Does anyone have any advice on where i go from here? And how can i find out if there are any others local who would be able to help me out?

Thanks in advance smile.gif

I know there are non-Wiccan witches in Cornwall. Some of them may be atheists. Try contacting the local Wiccans anyway and see if they know of anyone.

Try the Pagan Federation. They do have lists of groups and regional representatives. They are a much maligned organisation, but they are good for raising contacts.

The nearest people I know are in Devon and Dorset (and one has just died).

As far as the atheism is concerned, most people won't give a tinker's cuss.

Remember that there are also lists of groups in Pagan Dawn, if you can get hold of a copy.

Here are some links you might find useful.

I entered "Pagan Groups Cornwall" on Google. These are just three from the first page.

Depending on whereaboutes you are in Cornwall, the Witchcraft Museum may know of some local contacts so it's worth giving them a call too.

Mothy,

with respect to the 'craft' side of witchcraft, you will find there is plenty out there from whcih to learn in respect of books and fora.

as to meeting and learning etc, moots and local groups culd still be very helpful. a local-ish coven might run a teaching circle of sorts and after discussion might still be able to give you pointers on the witchcraft side of things rather than the religous/spirit/deity side of things.

can i clarify as it might help, by aetheist, so you mean you dont believe in gods or gods, spirits etc?

I would say for starters the chaos magic aproch may be to your liking, but an interesting place to join a massive fellowship of basicaly anything is of all things The sorcerers aprentice, tho an advertisment in the local paper mite also help.
Be prepared for abuse calls if your gonna advertise in the paper tho (which hunters will prolly want to come calling and of course the local inquisition), but if you can record you text messages or record the calls to forward to those boys in blue you should make more money than you lose by advertising, heh.

Try looking at this site and see if you can join there scheme to meet each other http://www.sorcerers-apprentice.co.uk/
