"Yoga has long been considered beneficial to the body, but could it be a cure for lower-back pain?

Yoga teacher John Aplin is certain that it can.

After he broke his back in a walking accident 12 years ago he was impressed by the effect yoga had on his recovery...."

Anyone here do yoga?
Pomona
I do. Used to go to a class but don't any longer, but when I have time I have a great DVD I follow at home and I'm at the gym every work day and incorporate some yoga stretches towards the end of the workout when I'm using the mat.

I love it, I'm a complete convert. I have lower-back problems whereby two verterbrae are pretty much fused together, but yoga helps keep the lumbar limber tongue.gif and just stretches out things like the hamstrings which helps with the back thing too. smile.gif I do notice it if I don't do some specific yoga poses every day - my back definitely seizes up and becomes quite stiff and much more susceptible to locking and pain.

Never got relief from Yoga but when I was bellydancing every week I had no back issues...

I need to find a new class!
Amanfred
me too.
I used to do a good half hour every day but then work times changed and only do every other day.

When i broke my hand in March and couldn't go to class, my teacher came to see me and worked out whole routines that doesn't involve hands too much. She is brilliant as this was unasked for.

For beginers a class is a good way to learn and then you can find what suits you .

For those who have sky tv page 275 body in balance has some good yoga programs.
