I read that years ago. A friend bought it for me, thinking it might be my type of thing. It was better than I expected, although I haven't referred to it in years.

I liked that book. It was one the last books I got rid of when I gradually gave away my 'pagan' collection.

I'm not 100% sure why, but that reply made me smile

It isn't actually faint praise, is it

It's not, honestly, Animystic, because I really did hesitate about getting rid of it, I had a lot of affection for the way it was written, even if the content didn't really speak to me. But I realistically admitted I would never read it again, and my bookshelves are always overfilled, so I'm afraid it had to go. I didn't charity shop it, the last batch went on Ebay, not for money, as I made very little, but to be sure the people who got them at least actually were looking for them, rather than just idly picking them up for 10p in a charity shop. The rubbish stuff got offloaded to Imperial Cancer Research LONG before that. For a beginner, I would say its one of the best books there is, even if all it does is convince you that Wicca-lite is not your bag.

I think i have come to the conclusion that wicca is not for me. i can't explain why, For about three years now i have concntrated soley on wicca and I think its time to look into other paths, I had a dream last night, and it was all clear to me this morning, The only way to explain it and it make some form of sence is like a big map, i am going in the right direction but im not quite on the right road. I hope this book will help me to realise the road i should be on. yesturday when i brought the book i didnt know why i bought it, i just saw it and was drawn to it. now after sleeping on it, i have come to realise, i need to buy more books that are out of my comfort zone so to speak.

Hi,
books are wonderful things and come to us in our hours of need. Well that's what I keep telling my husband when I bring another book home!
I found that book very interesting and helpful. Good luck on your quest. Don't rush things and don't fight, just relax!
Take care

I'm not a fan. Open the book, have a brief read and if you're drawn in, get it.. if not, put it back on the shelf. If online, Google some reviews.

I keep meaning to read this as it has been recommended to me so many times. Just out of interest I think there is an interview with Rae Beth on the latest OBOD Druidcast (podcast).

I have read it i enjoyed it but i think no matter how many books you read its someone elses thoughts and workings. But it does give you insight and sometimes food for thought.reading can be helpful giving you direction ..

True but there is a time to stop reading and start doing. At first books give one guidance but as we develop we tend to read less and do more - trusting in our own instincts and what we have learnt and how we have modified this to suit our own path.
Rae Beth is a gentle start to things
