I'm after some help looking for an 'original' and 'special' gift for a friend who is so close to giving birth she is 2 weeks late!
This is her second child, and so has all the normal pariphinalia, but she has a mild to mid-interest in paganism. Therefore I want to get her something for her and/or the child that they will be able to treasure but also 'protect' or look after them in this special time.
Any and all ideas gratefully recieved

How about a herbal sachet?

If the parents are up for it, how about saving a good length of the birth cord, twist it around a wrist sized object (bottle), cover it in salt, wait until it has dried and then have it gold/silver plated - makes a lovely bracelet. If this is not possible, a teddy bear usually does fine.

How about something like a small dream catcher? for over the cot for the obvious "sweet dreams"? look for something with ithier blue/pink feathers etc...maybe even a homemade one with a name on it?
For the arrival of a friends twins, I was going to do a calligraphy poster of The Jumblies by Edward Lear, you know write it all out pretty? But it was a bit of a bigger project than I realised and I never did it. Typical me but it's a nice idea, every kid should meet the Jumblies

how about a nice box or basket, with candles, incense, oils etc, and a ceremony for welcoming the baby written out on nice parchment.
I've done similar things for weddings (champagne, 2 glasses, ribbon, candles, oils, etc.) it's always well appreciated and original.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll combine them into some sort of gift basket thing!
However if you don't mind Yggdrassil, I'll give the cord thing a miss!
