...happiness spreads like a domino effect. ...It's not about being a saint or a martyr, just a nice person.
I certainly agree with that Elunedd

Simple things work wonders in this respect. For instance, I'm always polite and chat to the bus drivers on the coach service I use to get to and from work. As a result they all smile, say hi, even make sure I have someone picking me up from the stop at night before they let me off the bus

And since I discovered that our morning receptionist loves cherries, I've remembered to give her a couple of handfuls from the bag I buy on the way to work at the wednesday market. Despite being fairly well known by everyone else as Oscar the Grouch's slightly less benign sister, she's perfectly sweet to me and the people who come in around the same time as me

There are people who have bad luck seemingly undeservingly and far more often than others. One friend of my mothers has gone through several cars, been threatened with eviction, had illnesses (including appendicitis), her husband has been seriously ill, their dogs both got run over, and their business struggles seriously from time to time. But on the flip side, she is clairvoyant, a talented tarot reader, a healer, has a beautiful operatic singing voice, paints, and has so many friends due to her sheer 'lovelyness' that she always has someone to turn to when things do get rough. Which doesn't make up for the fact that bad things happen, but it certainly helps her get through it
