Following on from Your Funeral!, And now, the end is near.... (boy we are a cheerful lot laugh.gif ) just what do you think happens after you pop your clogs?

Do you pass to the Summerlands, get picked up by a Valkyrie or even reincarnate as a new life?

Me mum, well she thinks that people are like tins of beans. When you die the beans are gone and all you are left with is an empty can.

Me well my beleifs are a little more complex.

As I keep stating (you are all taking notes I hope laugh.gif ) I believe that we (and everything else) has a soul which is also a part of the Cosmic Soul. We gain this portion of the Divine Spirit when we are formed and born. As we grow and learn our soul becomes imbued with our memories and experiences.

When we die, the part of our soul that is 'us' is freed from the mortal remains (they of course still possess their own much reduced and wiped clean part of the Divine Spirit) and ....

well what happens next I can only speculate. In most cases I would see this ex-soul dissipating and becoming a part of the larger Cosmic Soul once more.

Now of course a person's soul will be diluted by the much larger Cosmic Soul and mayhap this Ubersoul remembers our pasts (hello Akashic Library o_wave.gif ) but as that bit that was us is so dilute it is generally lost except....

We know that there are people that claim to be reincarnations of famous people (there must be enough Cleopatras to fill the Nile rolleyes.gif ) well as the Cosmic Soul would give up a portion of its part to each new life who is to say that these people are just remembering because they have somehow accessed that part of their soul's memories. If for example the soul stores these memories holographically then the whole of your life would be recallable by any small part of the soul, and once it is reintegrated with the Ubersoul the sum of your passed life would be everywhere.

Now as these famous people are generally forceful and powerful personalities perhaps that is why they are the past lifes that are remembered (of course some less important people (OK no-bodies tongue.gif ) might still have powerful personalities too - even if all they did was empy chamberpots or get burnt as a fake witch).

This would explain why so many people can be the same person in a past life. Of course it also means that there is probably a cod out there with an urge to swim in asses milk wink.gif

In most cases however you would have no idea what your soul had been before (and in practice it could have been bits of many things and in turn made of bits of many things)

Now there are a couple of alternate possibilities here.

1 - perhaps you can retain your personality after death, maybe you will retain some coherence and become a spirit, perhaps if you are powerful/focussed enough (er don't know how, but I'd imagine someone like Esme Weatherwax might be a candidate) you might retain your full persona and perhap evolve into a higher being or at least translate to another level of the Cosmos.

2- perhaps your 'self' would become encoded onto another soul - maybe a tree or a stone - particularly if you come to a violent end- now you have a haunted spot ohmy.gif (Stone Tapes anyone)

Just a thought but those good Christians who describe Hell as burning fires may not be seeing Satan's realm but simply remembering the breakdown and dissipation of the souls after death?

Who knows if any of my ramble is true, but its what I believe (or take as a likely continuation of my beliefs) and until someone sends that txt

(who admits people with long memories (or visitors to Fool's Paradox) might recall something of this from me before)

Now over to you........

These are the sort of things I wonder about too smile.gif .

I had never thought about the possibility of a kind of melting pot of souls explaning the Cleopatra phenomenon, though, interesting...

I believe we go through some sort of assessing and learning process about our last life after death. Then decide what we want to experience in our next.

Long memory here. smile.gif I seem to remember having rather similar views to yours in many respects.

We've all got a piece of deity within us (as has everything else). It is what I access when I journey and when I connect with other things I come across on the mundane. (Yeah, we all know I'm nutz. biggrin.gif) When we die, this piece of deity that is within us returns to deity. Whether that is to become a permanent part of deity again or to be used again in another creation is something decided by deity. What is left is a shell. smile.gif
