The Person Below Me......

Argh no. My parents occasionally (thankfully not too often) played that on record. I was never a fan.

Yes ever so muchso 🙂

Brandy poured over, lashings of Cornish cream melting on top...well it's only once a year 😉

Re. G&S , definitely a generational thing IME , even the name sends a slight shudder down my spine lol

The person below me has a mechanical (not battery powered) clock on a wall in their home.

I wonder which generation actually enjoys the banality of G&S; could it be the very young?  T'ain't me.

Never played this in the 9+ years I've been here but since I'm here:-

No, can't be arsed with keys or batteries come to that.  I might if I could find a mechanical clock that just required it's weight to be lifted as I went past - Most of my clocks are plugged into the mains.

The person below me wishes that it would snow in time for Christmas.

No.  False.  Definitely.

Snow is for people who are not required to go to work.

Christmas is for children and Christians.

I am required to do the former and am neither of the latter.

TPBM regards turkey as a poor relative to chicken, in gastronomic terms.

Well, we will be having chicken this year 🙂 I do actually prefer it...

TPBM regrets ordering takeaway a takeaway this week... or maybe that's just me 😛

False.  None ordered.  No regrets.

TPBM has just fitted a new battery into a laptop.

False. I only did that once and it remained rechargeable for LOT less time than the original battery it came with. Grrrr.

The person below me genuinely completely enjoyed their stag or hen party.

Regarding battery, hardly surprising.  After a few years the manufacturer's batteries are no longer produced, or, if available, cost a small fortune.  The nearest I could find to the "real thing" would have cost me in excess of £100.00 - considerably more than the value of my 6 to 7 year old netbook, and I could buy 5 of the cheaper alternatives for the same money.  So, if they only last one third of the time, it's a better deal.  Experience suggests I can expect about 18 months worth of usable life out of it.

Regarding stag party - false.  Never been to one.  No intention of going to one.  Weddings a bad enough - why on earth would I want to prolong the agony?

TPBM is getting more anti social as he gets older.

False. I had quite a bit of social anxiety for many years, despite being very happily married, but then someone arrived at work who accepted me as I was without question. I could be completely myself. We became very close best work-friends and, with that strength, I found I could socialise. She got married and her amazing wedding do was the final thing that set me completely free. I'm a lot more emotional these days but I can socialise whenever I like. She's moved on to a better job now but we're still in frequent contact (and I'm still very happily married!)

I also now tend to over-share!!

The person below me believes that men and women can be best work-friends without complications.

I'm trying to work out what that means...

"... best work friends without complications..."

I suppose I regard very few of my colleagues as "friends".  I never see them socially.  Why would I want to do so?  Work is where I work and home is where I live.  The people with whom I get on best in work tend to be those with a similar outlook.  We are the ones who stay in and man the telephones when everyone else goes to the Christmas lunch...

So, if I define a "best work friend" as someone I generally like better than all the others I see only in the office - true.

If I define a "best work friend" as someone I work with but is also my closest friend outside of the office - I know no such person, so, I suppose, "false".

I suspect you mean someone along the lines of the second definition.  So, "false".

TPBM has been accused of being a psychopath on more than one occasion.

Ha Ha Ellinas you scrudge! your answers really made me laugh: why would I want snow?:not for me.. or Christmas?: not for me.. why would I want to go to a stag do .. or a wedding? Yuk!.. or socialise at all.. or make 'friends' eeew...

ha ha... you know I really don't believe that you are such a grump as you make out. 😉

Oh and no I've not been called a psychopath (not that remember anyway been called a lot of things but don't think that was one of them.)

TPBM would actually like a nice comfy pair of socks in their stocking this year

Veggie - allow the poor old grump to have his grumpiness.  It is a matter of pride...!

False.  If I had any more socks, my sock drawer would be in danger of collapsing into a quantum singularity.

TPBM has put up 2 items of Christmas cheer in the office - one says "Merry Christmas my arse" and the other says "Happy f*cking holidays" (without the asterisk)...
