Ode To Thor

Recommended Posts

Moonhunter

Just for Pomona.

I remember posting it onto a Heathen site when I first wrote it and a Thorsman getting very upset about it.

Thor didn't. There's a god with a sense of humour. :)

(To the tune of

)

(* indicates the point at which the second verse begins)

I'm a Heathen by conviction

All things German I've a fix on

But my wife's a proper vixen

So I worship Thor.

*Thor's a proper man's man

Stronger than Desp'rate Dan

He can beat up poor old Loki and the gods say 'okey dokey'

and he does it just because he can (can).

Don't ask Thor to think his plan through

That would be assuming he has a clue.

When you have a hammer so fell

Who needs brains as well?

*Thor can throw his hammer;

it's a right old slammer.

And it comes back to his hand just like it's on a rubber band;

It'll slay you in a friendly manner.

Thor is mighty, there's no question,

When he goes abroad he needs no vest on.

If you're a man whose brain cells are few:

Thor's the god for you.

Lovely to see the words again - I can hear the song ringing in my head.

Moonhunter, if you get a chance could you please post the lyrics to the other songs you sang? One in particular really tickled me.

Many thanx and BB from TTT

I don't like flooding the board, TTT! :)

Give me a hint about the subject and I might find the right song/verse. :P

Dont see why you shouldnt "flood away" MH. The songs were brilliant!!

The one that really amused me had a chorus which went along the lines of .....Its just another rite for the pagans to do...... or something like that (aplogies for not quite getting the words right).

I told hubby about the songs and I think they would amuse him as well :P

Nah - "Neo Pagans" is here, and I think TTT had left before we got to that one.

TTT - you're thinking of "The Wheel of the Year" which I know I've posted in a thread on this site, but not as a separate thread. Easily remedied - just give me a mo'... :o_dance:

Bumping this because, with the rugby World Cup on, some of you may want to declaim it after a few shandies or two...

Much as I love Thor - he does seem to be the default goto for a certain brand of over-testosteroned, mentally challenged heathen. ;) Then again I know a few Thorsmen who are very intellectual....

It's good not to let people take themselves too seriously.

Yeah, being serious all the time surely can't be beneficial to your health. Plus, I'm essentially a man-child. :)

Those serious types can be tiresome, seems like they think they're on a pedestal of some sort.

They're statue bases, also for obelisks and the like. :)
